Taxonomy

Inigo MontoyaTaxonomy is an organizational tool to group things.

Per Wikipedia, it is not to be confused with taxidermy.

Specifically there are unique taxonomy models used for phonetics, numbers, business, and even soil classification.

Generally there are four models used that apply to most things which are:

  1. Taxonomy (general), the practice and science of classification of things or concepts, including the principles that underlie such classification
  2. Folk taxonomy, the way people describe and organize their natural surroundings
  3. Folksonomy, classification based on user’s tags
  4. Taxonomy for search engines, as a tool to improve relevance of search in a vertical domain
