USB microwave: one less reason to leave your desk

So you lead a pretty sedentary lifestyle. You sit in your car on the way to work, you sit at your desk all day, and you sit on your couch all night. Why ruin a good thing by standing up and walking somewhere to get lunch?

The BrainWave is a USB-controlled microwave that, in theory, would let you scan an RFID-equipped plastic spoon that would come with specially made meals, telling the microwave just how long to cook it for. Hell, you don’t even need to punch the numbers in! Now that’s conserving energy.

Rocket racing planes face off for the first time

Look out everybody, rocket racing airplanes could be a part of your future. For the first time, two of these rocket planes have flown together. In fact, the founder of the Rocket Racing League plans to start a series of races between these crazy craft next year.

The guys in the cockpits aren’t the only ones having fun — an augmented reality system lets spectators fly a virtual rocket plane along with them. They’re even creating an iPhone app in which you can virtually race the real aircraft.

We’re thinking this virtual racing would be a great idea for all kinds of motorsports. See how it works in this video:
